More Life Struggles

Thanks for the feedback on the last post everyone. I'm really enjoying drawing from life. Some of the blogs I've seen lately is really inspiring me specially Stephane Kardos. I really have to push myself. I want to start taking real life classes as soon as I can afford it. Here's some from yesterday.

And Again....

Awesome man! You put down just a few lines but they are just at the right places.
Loving the guy at the top right.

As for the scanner settings, i think when scanned my sketches are sometimes hard to read because the line is so light. Maybe its just my pen.
Can I ask what kind of a pen you use? (I know a pen wont make me draw better but Im just curious)

By the way, that guys life studies are amazing indeed. Watching all this cool sketches makes me wanna draw!

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments, Still trying to find my feet with this stuff.

Maarten, I just use any fineliner I can get my hands on, A couple of these drawings were done with a Pilot Vball Grip Extra Fine. Some with a standard fine liner. Also have a unipin fine liner I've never really been good with what tools to use and what offer the best result. Just use what feels comfy.
Scanner settings depend on what you want, For these and the last post I scanned as a Black and white image. (some scanners say text or line art) It will come out as A bitmap. Convert it ot grayscale in PS.If you want color covert to RGB (you have to convert to greyscale first as PS wont let you convert to RGB or CMYK etc.)

Forgot to mention, If its really light play with the Threshold/brightness in the preview window before you scan

Great stuff wes, your drawing is still quality. Alongside your colouring your style is excellent, I really like the way you've loosened up, it reminds me of the way I was beginning to draw at the end of the post grad, almost feeling like your pencil was travelling over and around the figure rather than just a set of lines.

HI,friend:)
Thank you for your visit to my blog:)
You are a really really talented animator!~
I especially like the characters in your final project and daily sketch.
I think you are quite interested in Kungfu and Eastern culture:)
I can't wait to see more of your works~

Hiya Wes, all looks great, as always. Hows the animation going?

maarten said...

hey wes,
yes yes im still busy and motivated :)
I am trying, as you said, to find the right line and move on. In my latest sketches i feel pretty comfortable with just a few lines.
im trying to use my memory during sketching like you said, I think I did it before too but unconsious.
interesting point of view on the life and character studies. I guess its true. thats probably why life drawing is so important.
With character studies its hard I think to find a balance between charicature and reality. but hey thats probably all based on experience.
hows life in london?

Really great work dude. Nice solid style, reminds me of a mix between Stephen Silver and Sean Galloway.

Great reel by the way. Nice compositing, as well as mixing development sketches with line test for each character/set.
